Our environmental challenge for January 2022, small steps towards a better environement

Oil and Fat – oils and fats from cooking can be tipped, when cool, into an old plastic pot instead of going down the drain and potentially causing a blockage. Put the pot in the rubbish when full, the waste incinerator will then turn it into electricity.

Fairtrade – Fairtrade producers grow their crops ethically and sustainably. All our food must be produced this way if we do not wish to degrade the environment. The challenge is to buy Fairtrade labelled produce, where this alternative is available – try tea, coffee, sugar or chocolate (go to www.fairtrade.org.uk for more information)
